About Melson
"The first Melson in America is generally believed to be John Melson, an indentured servant. He arrived in Accomack County Virginia about 1665 with his wife Elizabeth Painter."

John Melson was born about 1646 probably near Yorkshire, England. He married Elizabeth Painter on 4 April 1672 aftre arriving in Virginia about 1655. They had three children: Samuel Melson, John Melson, Jr. and Joseph Melson. John was released from his Indenture by 1671. He acquired land in Accomack County,VA. and also became a Trader. John died before 18 September 1694 at Accomack County, Virginia.

In 2015 I travelled to the area that is found in some historical documents that show the land and area where John Melson lived in Accomack County, Virginia. This is what the area looks like today:
